Well I just saw this obituary tonight and I'm very sad and because he was a very sweet and sincere person. I knew Daryl from my days with mobile and I always used to see him in Family Dollar and talk about every restaurant on the East Coast. He was truly devoted to his family and he was also a great friend and I used to love talking shop with him and talking about cars and how his family was doing. I always look for him when I was up there I was just asking the workers there if they seen him lately cuz I really adore chatting with him but he was a true gentleman and will be surely missed.

I remember when Officer Darryl bought a bike for a young girl who had hers stolen at the school. He always had a big heart, and will be remembered as such.

Basketball is what brought the Burroughs family into our lives!!! Orlando met Darryl Jr. playing basketball at the JCC. Through him we were introduced to his family, and we then quickly became their "framily"!!! Darryl Sr. was a very special man!!! He always made us laugh!!! And boy could he cook :) But speaking on behalf of my husband, Orlando and Darryl Sr. had many conversations that were symbolic of a father / son relationship. I know that above all else, Orlando will miss that for sure. May Darryl be at peace and watching over his beautiful family. You are so very loved and missed!!!

I was shocked to hear of OD's passing! He was always so full of life, happiness and love! I have so many fond memories of Darryl. He worked in an office area with me, at Sodus, for many years. As the only man in the office, he quickly became "one of the girls". He shared many loving stories of his family. His face would light up when he talked about his wife and children. He just beamed love at any thought of you! From dressing up for halloween, or his grand gestures and happy dances, he knew how to have fun and make others feel good. He made a tremendous impact on both the adults and students of Sodus. We are all blessed to have had him in our lives! He is greatly missed! My condolences to OD's family.
Sincerely,
Wendy Finn

To paraphrase the prayer “We Remember Them,” in Memory and Honor of our nephew and friend, Darryl Burroughs, Sr.:
When we see the joys a good man can bring family, friends and all those he shared his wisdom with, we will remember Darryl.
When we see a Husband, Father, Grandfather, Son, Uncle, Nephew love his family, teach them care and compassion, we will remember Darryl.
When we hear a heartfelt greeting, see wise, compassionate engaged eyes accompanied by giving, loving and kindness, we will remember Darryl.
When we are encouraged or encourage someone to be their best, we will remember Darryl.
When we sacrifice for and give to others and help one another, we will remember Darryl.
When we have joy we need to share, a problem to discuss, or decisions that are difficult to make, we will remember Darryl.
When we meet an honest, loving real person who sincerely cares, we will remember Darryl.
As long as we live, he too will live, for he is a part of us, and we will always remember Darryl.
“A line has been broken in the chain of love and affections which has united us as a family. At times, the pain of separation seems more than we can bear, but if we dwell too long on our loss, we embitter out hearts and harm ourselves and those around us. These moments belong to the past and the future. It is part of the past with its pain and joy. It is also a share in the living and a token of respect and love.”
Prayer and comfort to family and friends, Love, Uncle Bipsy and Aunt Cheryl

I got to know and interact with Officer Darryl when I was a student at Sodus Central High School. The time that I got to share with him, however intermittent it may have been, was always very pleasant. Officer Darryl was always smiling, and always seemed to be in good humor. He'll forever be remembered as a wonderful human being.

I can't believe you are gone. My heart just sank when I just found out. :-( You were such a great person that will be forever be in my heart and never forgotten. I had many, many great laughs with you. Years of a great family friend relationship with you and your family. So many heart to hearts. So many times you saved me and later a talk and a look to let me know to slow it down. ;-) You are a hero in many ways so many people. People you know as family friends, family, friends, co- workers, and strangers you had met through your work... you have touched so many lives. Your spirit will live on forever, especially through all the memories, hearts and lives of them. I don't think there is anyone that can say they met you and didn't have a great story to share of how you helped them through a tough time, and/or a great story full of laughter with you. So loving, so kind, so thoughtful and just straight up full of heart. Your beautiful wife is just as wonderful as you are. Every single time I saw you, text, or talked with you guys I admired you both as individuals, as a couple, your marriage, and your family. You guys had the secret to life and it was always full of happiness, love, loyalty, respect along with so many other great qualities. My daughters admired and seen it as well. They love you guys. As do I. My heart goes out to you Adrienne and your family. If you need anything please don't hesitate to call or text. Xoxoxo. RIP Darryl. I love you. Forever in my heart, and memories Ciara
