Dear John, Steve and Mike, My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Doris was a beautiful soul and I loved her kindness, hospitality and friendship. I will miss her very much. I am sorry I cannot be there to tell you this in person but you are all in my heart.
Querido John,
Love,
Clemencia

I lived down the street from Doris Jean on Main St. in Birdsboro, PA. We were in the same grade and attended same schools through high school. She was a special person with special cares and special thoughts. I remember the summers when she worked at the local playground at the end of Main St. The kids loved her, as well as, everybody..... a special kindred spirit . My heart goes out to her family, friends and schoolmates.....she will be missed.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I taught next to Doris for only a short time, but in that short time, I was able to appreciate who she was. She shared stories of her husband, her travels, and her love of nature which were very inspiring. Praying for your family during this challenging time.

Doris and I taught together at Winslow School in Rush Henrietta, where she was the "push-in" reading teacher who came to my classroom. She shared her love for teaching and an awareness for giving back to the world, both locally and globally.
The annual Waud Thanksgiving dinners were on a grand scale, yet with the casualness and ease of a spontaneous warm, welcoming visit. It was a time of wonderful reminiscing and celebrating with the "regular" guests and new ones each year (for some, it was their first Thanksgiving in America).
I was in awe with Doris' courage on her cancer journey, which she called a "health detour". While her days were consumed with doctor appointments and treatments, she continued to ask how her friends were doing and was genuinely happy to hear their responses.
For John and sons: May prayers sustain you at this very difficult time and in the days to come. May memories comfort you, and bring you a sense of joy.
Doris, rest in peace, my friend. I miss you.
