Obituary of Sannasi Ramanan

Sannasi Ramanan passed away on October 16, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lila, daughter Durga Devi, son Deva, sisters Nalini Kumaresan and Akila Sahadevan, and their families. He was born in 1947 in Suruli Patti, Tamil Nadu, India, to Ponnulingam and Gomathi Sannasi. He received a BS in Mathematics from Loyola College, Madras in 1966, a BE in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore in 1969, and a M.Tech in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras in 1971. He then taught for 7 years in Annamalai University from 1971 - 1977. He then went on to get his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras in 1983. He did his post-graduate studies at the University of Waterloo, in Canada, 1984 - 1985. He began a faculty position at the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1986, where he continued to work for 27 years until his retirement in 2013. A traditional Hindu Service will be held in the Interfaith Chapel from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 3325 Winton Road S. Cremation will follow at Rochester Crematory, 72 O'Connor Rd., Fairport, NY 14450.
