Mr. Fendley was the nicest man and always took an interest in the Monroe Branch employees (including myself). I waited on him as a teenage page from 1977-79 and later as a substitute librarian and fellow MBL patron. He would get books for his daughters in the children's room and books for himself in the adult room. He was always happy to see me and find out where I was working and how my family was. I last saw him at Brighton Memorial Library when we were both getting new books. He said the parking was easier. Past and current MBL staff remember him fondly. I believe that my dad (John McCrank) taught the girls at Monroe.
Dear Christine, I was so very sorry to learn about Walt's death. He was truly one of nature's finest products! Such a kind man, always. He will be truly missed. Thinking about you and your family. Love, Ruth
