John Robert Ellenberger, Sr.
Entered into rest on May 5, 2017, at the age of 91, surrounded by his loved ones after a brief illness.
Born at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana on March 23, 1926 where he grew up. He attended Purdue University where he belonged to Kappa Beta Rho fraternity. He served in the US Navy from 1944 – 1945. He worked 33 years for DuPont as an Engineer. He and his late wife, Dody, traveled the world and enjoyed years of collecting orchids and their involvement in the Rochester Orchid Society.
Predeceased by his parents, siblings and his beloved wife of 64 years, Lillie Dolores "Dody". Survived by his children, Susan (James Carey) Buckner, Rebecca (Steven) LeRoy, Janis (Dawn DellVeneri) Slora and John R. Jr. (Jackie Conner); 8 grandchildren, Rick, Jessica and Melanie Buckner, Kerry (Rob Mink) Slora, Leslie Smith, Michelle (Alex) Hatheway, Bobby (Felicia McQueen) LeRoy and Jacob (Nicole) Conner; and great-grandchildren, Mason & Elise Smith, Cash & Chance Conner, Joshua DePoty and Jaydon Spencer.
Interment to be announced at the convenience of the family.
