Obituary of Dietgard Kamp

Dietgard "Dee" (Koerner) Kamp, age 80, passed away on September 17, 2017. Dee was born in Radebeul, Germany, immigrated to the US in 1968 and became a full US citizen in 1974. She received her B.S. degree from Nazareth College in 1974 and had a long career in the pharmaceutical industry working in pre-clinical trials as a Research Scientist for Pennwalt Pharmaceuticals, Astra-Arcus and Astra-Zeneca from 1974 to 2002 and as an Information Analyst at the University of Rochester at the Clinical Trials Coordination Center from 2002-2010. Her life's work was testing new chemical entities, in animals and later in human clinical trials, that could be further developed to treat or cure various diseases. However, her true passion was volunteering, which she took to a whole new level on a daily basis. She dedicated her life giving to others and touched thousands of lives via her volunteer work at The Rochester Friendship Council, Meals on Wheels, WXXI, LPGA, The Ronald McDonald House, and Geva, while always "Keeping it Sexy". Dee is survived by daughter, Cornelia Kamp (Austin, TX); 2 grandchildren Lauren and Ryan Kamp; son, Stefan Kamp, his wife Linda (Rosales) (St. Louis, MO) and 6 grandchildren, Chris, Michelle, and Nicholas Underwood and Gabriella, Abigail, and Hannah Kamp; bother Uwe Koerner and his wife Edith (Lulsdorf Germany) and niece Susann Schroeder and her husband Olaf; sister Elke Franke and nephews Martin (wife Mary) and Erik (wife Michele) Franke (Baltimore, MD); and brother Horst and his wife Inge (Leverkusen, Germany) and nephew Kai and niece Eike. There will be no funeral or calling hours as her 80th Birthday party was a living memorial to her! The family would like to give their thanks to Dr. Brian Yirinak and the staff at the Pluta Cancer Center; Lifetime Hospice; and the Hildebrandt Hospice House where Dee received excellent care in her final days.
