Obituary of Don Joel Reinfeld
Don J. Reinfeld, of Rochester, N.Y., passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on March 18, 2018, after a long and hard-fought battle with leukemia.
Don was born on December 10, 1942 to Fred and Beatrice Reinfeld in New York, NY. He was a larger-than-life personality, someone who made a difference in the life of nearly every person he met. He was a passionate cellist, both solo and as a member of the Buffalo and Rochester Philharmonic Orchestras, and an accomplished bowmaker. He was also a classical scholar, a breadmaker, a painter, an avid reader, and a technology maven.
His passion for both learning and teaching was exceptional, and often inspirational. He wasn't always easy--but the most interesting people seldom are.
Don is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Linda; sister Judith Reinfeld Bruno; step-daughters Elizabeth Lawley and Jennifer Goldenberg; grandsons Lane and Alex Lawley; and his beloved extended family, Jessica Lieberman, Amit Ray and their children, Lucy and Kiran Ray. He built a strong relationship with his grandchildren, playing a major role in shaping them into the people they are today.
Family and Friends are invited to a Celebration of Don's life on SUNDAY, March 25 at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. (3325 Winton Rd. S). Join and visit with the family between the hours of 1:00 - 4:00pm; at 2:00pm there will be a Memorial Service with live music.
Donations may be made in Don’s honor to Benincasa (3880 Rush Mendon Rd, Mendon, 14506), where he received the most compassionate care during the end of his journey.
