Obituary of Clare Ann Marro (Montemorano)

Lost her courageous battle against leukemia on February 14, 2016, in Venice, Florida. Clare and Frank Marro celebrated their 50th anniversary in August. Born in Clyde, New York, to the late Veto and Virginia Montemorano, Clare attended Clyde High School and Nazareth College, graduating in 1963. She was a dedicated elementary school teacher at Victor Central Schools for over three decades, touching the lives of hundreds of students. Clare had life-long friendships with many colleagues and parents of students, and always took pleasure learning about accomplishment of her former students. A devout member of St. Patrick's parish in Victor, Clare was passionate about her faith and shared that faith with her family. A long-time resident of Victor, Clare volunteered for local charities after retiring from teaching. She loved spending time with her family, and adored her children and grandchildren. She and Frank wintered at their villa in Venice, Florida, enjoying their many friends who became their winter "family". Clare is survived by her loving husband, Frank; son, Michael and wife, Nicole, and granddaughters Sarah and Sophia, of Victor. She is also survived by daughter, Maureen Shea, her husband, John, and grandchildren Molly and Ryan, of Yarmouth, MA. Family members also include brother, James Montemorano, and wife, Sue Ann, of Howell, NJ; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Calling hours will be held Friday, February 19, 2016, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lucey-VanVoorhis Funeral Home 301 Main St., Victor. A funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Victor, on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Clare's memory to the VCS Educational Foundation, 953 High Street, Victor, New York 14564.
