We were so sorry to hear of our Aunt Jean's passing. She was such a great lady. Always full of life, energetic, and always smiling. What a great smile! She was my Dad's favorite sibling as they were so close in age. He would tell me how he and Jean would work together in their Maplewood house to take care of their Dad as they were the last two siblings left living with their Dad. Your Mom had a great memory and helped me fill in numerous blanks in our/her Annett Family Tree. You should take comfort in knowing that her love for you will always be in your hearts. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

Dear Margo, Betsy, Diane, Tracy and Tom,
I just want you to know that I am thinking of you all, and share your sense of grief and loss.
From vacations down the Jersey Shore and up in Maine, to so many happy weddings, our families shared wonderful times together. Your Mom brought a spark of excitement and light to every gathering. And her breathless enthusiasm for life was contagious.
She was so spontaneous and fun. I remember paddling around with her in the swimming area at Lake Thompson in Maine. I couldn’t have been more than seven.
“Hey Willie,” she said. “I think my thumb is loose!” And then suddenly, she pulled her thumb off—or so it appeared—clutching the disembodied digit in her other hand. My jaw dropped. And then with the deft touch of a magician, she restored the thumb to its rightful place.
That trick blew me away. I was delighted beyond words. Then she shared the secret with me, and set me to practicing. I’m still trying to perfect it, but will never match her magic. That came from deep inside her and was the source of light she shared with the world.
She so loved Rochester. I remember her delight in describing the crisp cold air and how the whole world shimmered and sparkled after a snowfall. So in a place where many might grumble about harsh winters, she found wonder and enchantment.
She was cool, too. Music was in her bones. She played piano beautifully. I can still see her sitting at the keyboard of our old Griffith console when your family visited us in New Jersey. She cranked out the oldies and got the party rocking. She knew the latest rock bands, too—which absolutely amazed me—and even liked some of their tunes: testament to her ever-youthful spirit.
On that note, I was so touched and awed to learn that at age 90 she climbed aboard a jet ski and made a few turns on Canandaigua Lake. So despite the trials of her elder years, she remained young and daring and willing to embrace life full on. What an inspiring example she is for us all. You are so blessed to have had her in your lives. And I feel lucky that she was my dear Auntie. And I will never forget the moments she touched my own life.
So for me, memories of your Mom are all glimmering water and ocean breezes and endless summer afternoons when our families were young. I share your profound sense of loss and am deeply sorry I cannot join you to honor her life during the memorial. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers, and I will be lighting a candle for your Mom this Saturday.
With all my love and sympathy.
Your cousin,
Will

What a special lady - ahead of her time in so many ways. She was a role model for those of us who wanted everything - an education, career, family. She always made me feel like a member of the Hochuli family. I was privileged to have known her. Love to all of you, Les
