Obituary of Alexander Patrick Davis

Davis, Alexander P. Victor: Alex P. Davis was called home to be with God on Sunday, May 4, 2014. Alex is survived by his parents, Robert K. and Deborah F. Davis; brother, Kenneth J. Davis ("K J"); maternal grandparents, Nadine and Joseph A. Marino; paternal grandparents, Loretta and Kenneth W. Davis; aunts and uncles; Thomas M. and Paula F. Davis, James A. and Melissa M. Marino; cousins, Matthew Davis, Michael Davis, Claire Marino and Jane Marino. Although Alex's life was short, he made a significant impact on his friends and family. Alex reminded us to live life to the fullest. He encouraged us to strive to be our best. Most importantly, he showed us how to use our gifts to serve others. Alex was often called the "Prince," a nickname that fit him perfectly as he left us richer by his presence in our lives. Alex was a 2012 graduate of Victor Central School. In his young adult life, he modeled the values of hard work and leadership. Alex was a member of National Honor Society and won several awards for academic excellence during his high school years. His passion for learning grew as he became interested in better understanding our government. Alex was a Victor Boys State Delegate and was selected as a Boys Nation Delegate representing New York State. Later, he served as an International Model United Nations Delegate. Alex found great satisfaction in studying government and in finding opportunities to enrich the lives of others. Alex's love for service was most evident in his enjoyment of helping with the Sunday Dinner Ministry. He was also a volunteer for the Special Olympics, helping kids find time to celebrate life in the midst of difficulties. Alex's willingness and desire to help others was not limited to age or convenience; his passion was simply to serve. Lastly, Alex was an avid athlete. He loved the games. He loved the teamwork. He loved his friends. During high school, Alex was a varsity letter winner in wrestling and lacrosse. He was also on the varsity football team. He loved the camaraderie of his teammates and coaches. One of his fondest memories was "sharing the mat" with his older brother on the same wrestling team. Alex played four years of varsity lacrosse at Victor and continued to play at SUNY Geneseo under Coach Jim Lyons. In addition to school athletics, Alex was a talented golfer. He thoroughly enjoyed the many rounds of golf that he played with his father, his grandfather, his brother, and his uncles. He outdrove them all! Undoubtedly, Alex will be remembered for his kind and loving spirit, his collection of sports jerseys, his hidden wit, and his love for the piano and guitar. Most of all, we will remember Alex's bright smile. His spirit will live on in our hearts forever. Friends may call Wednesday and Thursday 6-9 at Lucey-VanVoorhis Funeral Home, 301 West Main Street, Victor. A Funeral Mass celebrating Alex's life will begin Friday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Patrick's Church, 115 Maple Avenue (NYS Rt. 444), Victor. Private interment, St. Patrick's Cemetery.
