Obituary of Linda Frances Foster

Linda Frances (Dolce) Foster Pittsford: A beautiful spiritual being, offered last words of love and comfort to her family and then joined her precious God on April 23, 2010. She weathered the challenges of her final year of life with the same grace & dignity that she exhibited throughout her 59 years. Linda was the ultimate caregiver; listening, advising and comforting anyone in need. With an innate ability to establish an immediate and real connection with most everyone she met, she took great joy in being a positive light for others. She believed that everyone was worth knowing. Linda will be remembered by many as an avid cook, hostess, and for her special gestures through gifts and spontaneous acts of affection. Predeceased by her Dad, Joseph Dolce. Linda is survived by the two loves of her life; husband Gary of 31 years and son Gary; Daughters, Julie (Al) Lombart, Lori (Mark) Peterson, Wendy (Tim) Moffett; Grandchildren Joshua, Stephen, Zack, Samantha and Jacob. Her best friend and Mother, Betty Dolce, who tirelessly cared for Linda throughout the past year. Her sisters and brothers, Diana Dolce, SSJ (caregiver, cohort & friend), Anthony (Tammy) Dolce, Robert (Doug) Dolce, Fred (Cynthia) Dolce, Ann (Greg) Stoutenburg, Jim (Rita) Dolce, Betty (Carrie) Dolce, Evelyn (Dave) Matsulavage, Joe (Joan) Dolce, Beverly Morreale. Many beloved nieces, nephews & Godchildren. Linda had an extensive list of people she called friends; especially Merri-Lou McKeever, Dave & Gail Lyle, George Lippa, Bob Sperandio and Kathy Weider, SSJ. We cannot begin to describe our gratitude for the staff at URMC who cared for Linda. In a brief time, the nurses and technicians on the MICU & Palliative Care Units became our friends. The Team on the Blood & Marrow Transplant Unit became our family. You exhibited both medicine and compassion of the highest order and have left a fine strand of lights around our hearts. Linda served the past 10 years of her life as Development Director of Hope Hall, where she was able, through grants & donations, to help her precious school to realize a sustainable mission & the establishment of a high school. She defied modern medicine's prognosis on several occasions believing that there was "something else she was supposed to do". That destiny was revealed in a dream that said she needed to establish a food cupboard for the working poor through Hope Hall. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hope Hall in order to make the Linda F. Foster Food Partnership dream a reality (Click for a Link to Hope Hall). Don't be dismayed at good-byes. A farewell is necessary before you can meet again. And meeting again, after moments or lifetimes, is certain for those who are friends.
