I honestly can't remember when or how I first met Mark but it was soon after I moved to Rochester, just after college, in my early 20's that he joined a "wild & crazy" little band of friends that stuck together on and off for many years. Mark introduced me to so many things: Bruce Springsteen and Tom Waits, Moog synthesizers, the Aloha Resaurant, and Long Island Iced Teas. He was one of the smartest men I've ever known- a technology geek who never had a landline let alone a cell phone and never (to my knowledge) learned to drive a car. His sense of humor was laser- sharp. He was sensitive and easily moved to tears over an injustice or a loss, of his own or another. He cared deeply about the people he loved and also about the world at large. Which really really needs more Mark Carbone's.
