Robert “Bob” Kelly, age 60, passed away peacefully at home, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his mother LaDonna [McNeff] Kelly. He is survived by his father, Marvin Kelly; his wife of 36 years Jane [Secours] Kelly, dear children, Patrick (Stacie) Kelly and Meghan (Daniel) Sheehan; cherished grandchildren: Brayden and Everly Kelly and James and Claire Sheehan. Siblings: Rick (Dena) Kelly, Randy (Sharon) Kelly, Ellen (Scott) Johnson, Jill (Kelly) Lazzell and Maria Kelly. Mother-in-law : Norma Secours and brother and sister-in-laws: MaryAnn (Mark) Blair, Nancy Secours, Diane Secours, Roger (Ken Houk) Secours and Robert Secours; 15 nieces and nephews and numerous great nephews and nieces on both sides.
Bob was born in 1959 in Greencastle, Indiana and graduated from South Putnam High School. He received bachelor’s degrees from DePauw University (81) in mathematics and Elmira College (85) Information technology. At DePauw he was a 3-time Division III All American in swimming and at Elmira he used his final year of eligibility on the golf team, both sports were lifelong passions. His 34 year career in IT included Bausch & Lomb, Emedco, VWR, and Rochester Drug Cooperative, retiring in May, 2019.
Bob married Jane Elizabeth Secours on June 11, 1983 in Massena, NY. He was a loving husband, wonderful father and proud Poppa/Grandpa! He loved spending time with his family at home or on vacation at the beach, anywhere they could be together. Besides swimming and golf, he liked cycling, loved playing the piano, growing his tomatoes, solving puzzles and dreaming up inventions. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his dearest friends Steve, Doug and John at Camp David every year. He was easy going with a legendary sense of humor that entertained friends, family and hundreds of Nazareth College students who visited our home. He welcomed and accepted everyone and had a special place in his heart for Mohammed “Mo” Ahamed who became part of his family.
Friends and family are invited to call between the hours of 4 & 7PM on FRIDAY, August 23rd with the Funeral Service at 10AM on SATURDAY, August 24th all held at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc (3325 Winton Rd S). Graveside to follow at Ascension Garden Cemetery
