I was very saddened to read of David's passing. Although I reside in Portland Oregon, I am a Rochester NY native and I have fond memories of David when attending Sunday services at Downtown United Presbyterian Church. David was one of those rare gentlemen who would *always* go out of his way to greet me in church. He always asked about my parents and we spoke about jazz music - I am a jazz historian and jazz radio host and David and I shared a deep love for jazz. My husband Ron and I would like to offer our condolences to Ellen and David's family. I would like to play a jazz selection on my jazz radio show this Saturday night in David's memory and I would like to know what jazz musicians were David's favorites.
