I had the privilege of Gene working for me as a basketball official at North Rose-Wolcott HS and later I worked with Gene as a basketball official. A truly class act who was very professional and honest. We will miss Gene and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. John Hewes, Lyons, NY

Cousin Gene was always a joy at Thanksgiving dinners at Aunt Ann's house. He had a great sense of humor. Lots of fun times with him and his family at Keuka Lake in the summers too. He was a great water skier.

Gene was a great friend, we spent many a Sunday afternoon refereeing CYO basketball games at Good Shepherd School in Henrietta. Later on working Varsity BB games for IAABO Board 60 in Section 5. Gene being the senior member was always offering tips and help to young officials. As we grew older and (I) couldn't keep up with those 17-18 year old kids we found ourselves at Wild Wood Golf course in a regular 4-some - Gene Simmons, Gene Monje, John Smith and myself (Jim Marventano). Curley, our nickname for Gene, even worked at Wild Wood for a time, one day they put him on a fairway mower but he couldn't work the foot controls, his foot was too big. Curley we aregoing to miss you, Rest in Peace brother.
