Obituary of Harriet Kitzman

Passed away March 11, 2020 at the age of 82. She had a deep commitment to her family. Husband, Dennis for almost 60 years; Daughter, Karen and husband Todd Honan; Daughter, Heather and husband Jeff Pawlowski; her precious grandchildren, Sarah, Christian, Vlad and Noah; her siblings, Delores Kellner, Jack Jones, Philip Jones, Harry Jones, Mary Bontempo, and their spouses; brother and sister in law Roger and Alicia Kitzman.

She was an early leader in the development of the Nurse Practitioner role.  She held the Loretta C. Ford Professorship during her more than 50 years of service at the University of Rochester School of Nursing. Her work helped improve the outcomes of mothers, children and families in economically disadvantaged communities.

She was author and co-author of numerous nursing and health publications.  She received many professional awards and accolades including the University Award for Lifetime Achievement in Graduate Education

She loved the mountains in her hometown of Ogdensburg, PA.

No prior calling. Services and interment at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may consider a donation in her name to University of Rochester School of Nursing  Or Wilmot Cancer Institute.
