I was in the Genesee Valley Orchestra and Chorus with Mary Lou from way back in the 80’s. She played in the violin section and I played the timpani and percussion instruments. We practically had the Messiah memorized as we performed it twice every year for many years. I also was on some of the summer European trips with Mary Lou and her husband Don. Their passion was making music and they were loyal members of all the groups they belonged to. I enjoyed getting to know Mary Lou and found that she had a subtle sense of humor. We saw each other once a week for many years and I always looked forward to seeing her. She lived a long life so she had an opportunity to touch many peoples lives. I am glad I am one of those people.

The eight years I spent in choir at Christ Episcopal Church in Pittsford were joyful, and a large measure of that was due to Mary Lou's warm and friendly welcome to me. She was so much fun to sing with, and I always enjoyed her bantering with Don - she had a tremendous infectious sense of humor! Her sweet voice and her bright smile brought more passion to her singing, and it is a privilege to say that I knew her and spent many weeks singing with her. Now she's adding her beautiful voice to a greater choir in a place where she will be ringing the rafters with glorious song!

Aunt Mary Lou,
So glad we were able to see you when we were last in Rochester. I remember summer family picnics in your backyard and the wonderful and elaborate wrapping creations you made for us for Christmas. And we had so much fun with all those flavors of sundae toppings and jams. Simpler times, those.
More recently I recall feeding ducks on the Erie Canal with my grandchildren and you watching us on the bench.
And your sweet smile and the tender bond between you and Uncle Don.
We will miss you but know you are in a happy place with your parents and others you have loved and missed.
With love from your niece,
Elizabeth Ann
