She is survived by her loving family: wife Allison Cook, son Joe and beloved dog, Sophie, her siblings: Lori (Cathy Saxton) Stromquist and Jim (Beth) Stromquist, mother and father in law; Joseph and Linda Cook, sisters and brothers in law: Lisa (Mike Badgett) Cook Lewis, Jessi (Kevin) Tyrrell, Jac (Jennie) Cook, nieces and nephews; Jessica (Zane DiProjetto ) Stromquist, Amanda Stromquist, Alana Stromquist, Kayla Stromquist, Josh Lewis, Tyler Lewis, Lila Cook, great nieces and nephew; Lily,  Luna and Ace DiProjetto and many more special family and friends.

Cathy was born in Rochester, NY on June 3rd, 1964. She was raised in a loving home in Ogden by her parents, Jim and Phyllis, with her younger sister, Lori, and brother, Jim.  Cathy’s proclivities to humor and antics, especially with her siblings, are treasured memories that bring laughter to their lives today. Growing up in a household surrounded by deep values of family, she developed endearing relationships with not only siblings, but aunts, uncles, cousins and especially her nieces. Regardless of the family relationship, Cathy took it upon herself to be a role model of encouragement and trust, most notably to her nieces whom she adored. Always recognizing the value of family and accolades of love, Cathy is remembered for her endless entertaining stories, limitless heart, and ability to touch the lives of people like no other.

Cathy graduated from Spencerport High School in 1982.  She developed a passion for body building which she never stopped enjoying.   She had a long career with NYS Corrections, retiring from Groveland Correctional Facility in 2015.

Prior to retiring, Cathy met the love of her life, Allison, and they later married in Avon, NY surrounded by family and friends. She moved to Brewerton, NY with Allison and Joe where they built their home together.  They were able to travel and see some of this beautiful world we live in from Alaska to Italy and many places in between.

Cathy’s passion was being creative and building things but most of all, sharing her creations with her family and friends, especially her backyard Halloween attractions, and her neighborhood Garage Bar.

Cathy was a very loving and caring soul who always made an effort to make her family and friends feel special, whether it was picking up a meaningful gift of bargain finds or handmade creations, spending time to lend a hand, or just taking time to have a conversation.  Cathy had such a generous essence about her that attracted so many.  Cathy was known as the pied piper, always at the eye level to the children around her who adored her as she engaged them with her patience and love.

For all those that Cathy has left behind, we all grieve and share a tremendous loss, so let your heart be open, take the extra time to have a long conversation with those that you love,  and embrace a little harder, in doing these things she will continue to live in your heart.

A celebration of Cathy’s life is tentatively planned for Saturday July 4th, 2020 in Avon, NY.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Allison Cook FBO Joseph Cook to PO Box 804, Brewerton, NY 13029.
