George gave me my first job at Community Manor/Fair Grounds when I was in high school. I worked for him in many capacities for many years. He taught me a lot about life how to work with people. My thoughts go out to his family. Richard Zuber

I had been manager of the Monroe County Fair for about 6 months when this very tall man came into the fair office. He said he was looking for a carnival for a church festival and asked if I could help. We got to chatting, and I learned about his history with the Monroe County Fair. I invited him into my office (which had once been his), and we talked for over an hour. He admitted that he still had "fair fever", so I questioned whether he would consider joining our fair committee. He said he would enjoy that, and he soon became a member, not only of the fair committee but also a valued member of our board of directors.Through the years, George was always ready with an helping hand if something needed fixing, or painting or planting, and he became the fair's official photographer, taking hundreds of pictures. He also became my friend and mentor and was always willing to give me his counsel or just to lend an ear when I needed to talk. I missed him when he moved away and was thrilled when he called me a few months ago just to chat. I have thought of him often, and he will always have a special place in my heart. I send my condolences to his family. I am for sad your loss, but I am so grateful that I got to know George and to call him friend.

George was a great friend and a true gentleman. He loved the fair business and was very proud of his accomplishments with in the organizations that he was involved in. When he moved to be closer to his family I missed his guidance and counsel at the annual convention in Rochester. I would like to say to his family thank you for sharing George with us and may all your memories be filled with cotton candy and sunny days.

George was the kind of person any pastor would be overjoyed to have in their congregation. If anything needed repairing or improving, George would be there with a big smile, an amazing amount of know-how, and very capable hands. And when he was finished, he would make you feel like you did him a favor letting him to do it. I have known few people with as generous a spirit as George. "Well done, good and faithful servant."

George and I had fun working together to renovate the church. George was one of our construction coordinators to watch over the contractor and to help get answers to questions and solve problems in the field. It was a complex project with many committees and folks helping make the project possible. George’s good nature and easy personality kept all parties calm and working together even when there were serious challenges. I remember how thrilled he was, along with our other long term members, when we finally rigged the old church bell back onto the new bell tower on the roof. What a gentleman and good soul he was. He will be missed.
