David DeBruyne

Obituary of David G. DeBruyne

Passed away unexpectedly August 9, 2020. Predeceased by his father Gerald. Survived by his wife Amy; son, Alex Moran; mother, Gladys; siblings, Timm (Sue) DeBruyne, Patti (Frank) Dunn; 3 nephews Shaun, Kyle (Elizabeth) and Trevor (Megan); 2 nieces Marena and Kira and 4 great niece Adelyn, Lillyanne, Coraline and Oonabelle. First and foremost, Dave loved his family. He was devoted to the love of his life, Amy and her son, Alex. Dave was Alex stepdad but from the moment Amy and Dave got together Alex was his son. The bond and love they had was evident to everyone. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for either of them. He was so proud of the fine young man Alex has become and beemed whenever he talked about him. He was a strong, supportive, husband, father, son, brother and friend. You could always count on to be there when you needed anything - a shoulder to lean on, an ear to listen or to make us smile and laugh. He always had time for his friends and made new friends very easily. Dave had a passion for life! He was always talking someone’s ear off about darts, golf, wine or taxes. He loved working with numbers and had the opportunity to do what he loved when he took over his father’s tax practice. He had been the President of the Genesee Valley Dart Association for over 10 years and was instrumental in reviving the Rochester Open tournament. He played trumpet for the Fairport Fireman’s Band for over 30 years and looked forward to marching with them at the area carnivals and especially in Ossining. He loved playing golf even when his scores weren’t that great. He loved playing poker on Monday nights and wasn’t too bad at it either! He loved smoking a good cigar and trying out new bourbons. He enjoyed discovering new wines and adding to the basement wine collection. He loved to cook and made his own barbeque and wing sauces. As long as he was with his family and friends he loved everything. Dave was so many things to so many people and he was taken from us suddenly and far too soon. The hole he leaves in this world is enormous. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. One of his great passions was rescuing dogs and cats. He always had multiples of each. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the SPCA Serving Allegany County where we rescued Abby and Daisy. You can send them in his memory to P.O. Box 381, Wellsville, NY 14895 or go to their website https://spcaallegany.org/
