Obituary of Mary F. Hannick

Mary F. Hannick Rochester: September 30, 2011 at age 102. Predeceased by her parents John N. and Rose G. Hannick, sister Alice Hannick Gildee and brother J. P. Hannick. She is survived by cousins both in the United States and Ireland and many hundreds of friends who knew Aunt Mary from a quarter century as the head of the Genesee Settlement House and other social work. Before that she worked at the Charles Street Settlement House, Eastman Kodak Company, and was an American Red Cross hospital worker in Europe after World War II. She helped start the Mary Cariola Children’s Center and has been recognized for her work with dozens of awards and recognitions both in the community and nationally. A special thank you to Kirkhaven and their staff for Mary’s care in her last days. No calling hours. Mary’s Funeral Mass will be held on SATURDAY, October 8th at 10 AM in Saint Anne Church, 1600 Mt. Hope Avenue, Rochester, New York 14620. (Click for a Map to Church) It will be followed by a reception in the St. Anne Social Hall where you will see an exhibit of many remembrances of Mary’s life.
