Obituary of Francis W. Greune

September 4, 1922- March 25, 2012. Retired attorney, Past Area Governor for Toastmasters and Past President of the Buffalo Curling Club. Bud passed away peacefully at Serenity House in Victor, New York after a brief battle with esophageal cancer. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, lived many years in Buffalo, New York, and settled in Rochester, New York for his final years. He was predeceased by his son Stephen Greune. Bud is survived by his children, Debra Dewey (Brian Hoffere), David (Mary) Greune, and Paul (Barbara) Greune; grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Hennigan, Angela (Brad) Young, Julia, Amber, and Joshua Greune, Erica and Jeff Dewey, step-grandchildren, Lindsay and Lori Hoffere; great grandchildren Ryan Albert, Mackenzie Young, Paige Hennigan, and step-great grandchildren Emma Hoffere and Luca Lombardo. Bud served in France during WW II and was awarded a Purple Heart after stepping on a landmine while rescuing a fellow soldier. The loss of his lower right leg could never hold Bud back, not even slowing down his amazing dance steps. He was a great leader, teacher, and motivator. Bud was organizing things for his family up to his last day. Heaven has gained an amazing man!
