I no longer live in Rochester and I have just come across this notice. Paula Carroll was a wonderful woman. I came to know her in the early 1970s when I was 6-7 years old and she taught art at my school, #19. I was a reserved, shy child and she sought me out to make sure that I was engaged in the class; we connected because we were both Paula C. She also took me under her wing, knowing that my family didn't have means. She took me shopping, bought me the first brand new clothes I remember receiving. I spent a weekend with her and she brought me to one of her family gatherings. So many things that I learned from her, such an impression she made on me. I remember the first time I saw her put on her habit, I wasn't a member of any faith community and she shared her faith with me in words and actions. So great was her impact that I became a Catholic as an adult. Truly a wonderful woman and I know that she is at peace.

Sister Paula became a dear friend when she was a patient assigned to me as a student nurse. We had a kindred spirit. We came to love each other very quickly. In our brief time together over the last 7 months, we have shared many laughs, exchanged many stories, cried mutual tears, realized mutual friends from years ago, shared our deep faith in God, and created endearing memories.I have a deep respect for this dear Angel of God and the work she did for Him here on earth. I love you, Paula, and I am so happy that now your dream of meeting Jesus has come to fruition. Please tell Him I said hello and until we meet again......I'll be thinking of you always. Love, Kate

I am so saddened by the death of your aunt, great aunt, and sister-in-law. I remember her from my brief time at St. Anne Church and I always thought of her as a remarkable woman and a very dear friend. She will be missed. You are in my prayers as you say goodbye to your beloved aunt and sister-in-law. I pray that we may all meet Paula again in heaven. Requiescat in pace.
