Obituary of Dwight Hilliard Gardiner
Went to the Lord on Monday, July 16 at home after a 1 ½ year battle with bladder cancer. He was born August 10, 1919 to Margaret Neidinger Gardiner and Dwight Murray Gardiner. He is survived by his life’s partner, Barbara Evelyn Herr, and his first cousin, Elaine Pugliese, and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.
He attended Aquinas High School and received his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees in Psychology from the University of Rochester, where he was Instructor at the Prince Street Women’s Campus. He spent his career at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, NY, where he was Professor and Chair of Psychology for many years. He taught until he was 80. He was a member of the Geneva Country Club, an assistant at the Genesee Valley Golf Course while a graduate student, and Technical Director of the Swain Ski School in the 1960’s. He was also a Navy veteran of WWII.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 26 Mendon-Ionia Road, Mendon, NY at 10 AM on THURSDAY.

Interment will be in Stumptown Mennonite Cemetery in Lancaster, PA.
